$12 Million Panama Discovery Yacht in Flames

Firefighters from three Panama stations and Panama's Sea and Air Service (SENAN) battled a fire on a $12 million Discovery luxury yacht on Thursday afternoon, May 21. "Discovery" caught fire in the Amador marina and was moved to enable firefighters from Calidonia, Balboa, and Plaza Amador to douse the flames that consumed the vessel despite their efforts. Billowing smoke clouds could be seen from apartments on Avenida Balboa.

"It's an exploring type vessel. We don't know what the reason behind the fire is. All I can say it burned quickly and the fire team arrived quite late." - Alex Kopertowska - @sea_and_suitcase
